Define the assembly and failure modes
Document substrates, surface preparation, bond-line geometry, adhesive placement, cure sequence, optical path and the alignment, adhesion, cracking, corrosion or moisture-related failures to be screened.
Establish a reproducible baseline
Record material batch, dispensing, fixture and complete cure conditions, then measure optical and mechanical baselines after a defined stabilization period using the same instruments planned for post-exposure checks.
Specify environmental sequences
Define temperature limits, ramp and dwell, cycle count, humidity, duration, powered or unpowered state and recovery conditions. Use the application requirement or agreed standard rather than an unspecified generic cycle.
Measure during and after exposure
Where required, monitor optical performance during exposure and repeat alignment, insertion loss, visual, mechanical and bond-integrity checks at defined intervals and after recovery.
Use controls and failure analysis
Include unexposed controls and enough specimens for the decision rule. Investigate where and how a failure occurred instead of attributing every change to one bulk adhesive property.

TECHNICAL FAQ
Questions to clarify before evaluation
Does a bulk adhesive Tg predict thermal-cycling reliability?
No. The substrate combination, bond geometry, cure state, moisture exposure and assembly constraints must be evaluated together.
Should optical alignment be measured only after the test?
Not necessarily. Define baseline, in-exposure if required, immediate post-exposure and recovery measurements according to the application risk.
Does completing a generic damp-heat test prove product qualification?
No. The sequence, assembly, sample count, acceptance criteria and failure analysis must match the intended application. This guide is not a qualification result.
